Founded in 1819, Redaelli started up as a steel drawing mill in
the area of Lecco, Italy. Around 1860, the original mill expanded
into a larger factory and in 1870 it became a share capital
company. By the 1980's, Redaelli had begun to diversify its
activities by expanding its product range. In July 2008 the Company
with the core ropes activities has become part of the
Severstal-metiz group of companies.
Now, Redaelli Tecna S.p.A. ("Redaelli") is a leading
international manufacturer in steel wire ropes used in a variety of
applications, including suspension bridges, cable cars and cranes;
service and distribution of lifting system; engineering of
tensostructures. Redaelli is positioned to pursue attractive growth
opportunities in each of its three business areas. As a matter of
fact, the presence in so many different market sectors ensures
ongoing growth of production volumes and profitability, whilst the
expansion policy outside Europe - mainly in the Far East, USA, and
Emerging Markets - is undergoing a consolidation process, which
includes new clients and new fields of action. In this context of
continuous development, in 2010 Redaelli breaks new record at
international level: the Guinness World Record for the heaviest
steel wire rope in the world.
The Company is based in Milan, Italy, all steel wire ropes are
developed and produced in Italy, in its plants located in Gardone
VT (Brescia) and Trieste and it has a network of service centres
for distribution and service of ropes and hoisting accessories with
branches in Italy, Turkey, Russia and China.
The Division Engineering of Redaelli offers complete technical
solutions, design and production options on all tensional
applications such as bridges and roofs for large halls, stadiums
and exposition centres. Since the seventies, Redaelli Engineering
Division has provided tensioned structural systems of every type
and size all over the world becoming a global market leader.
The projects are developed on sophisticated software capable of
defining the single rope as well as the entire tenso-structure. The
Division also provides turnkey service thanks to its experienced
team for installation.
In the recent past Redaelli Engineering Division was involved in
the Storebælt (Denmark) suspension bridge project (the largest
suspension bridge in Europe), in the Pisa (Italy) leaning tower
consolidation works, in the cables system of the Giant London Eye
observation wheel, in the Athens Olympic Stadium cable stayed roof,

Place Vancouver Stadium (Canada) and New Juventus stadium in Turin
